Wedgwood Manor Pasty Party

Date will announce based on weather and available.

Despite the modern pasty's strong association with Cornwall, (dating back as far as 1,500) its exact origins are unclear. The English word "pasty" derives from Medieval French (O.Fr. paste from V. Lat pasta) for a pie, filled with venison, salmon or other meat, vegetables or cheese, baked without a dish.

In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s it became the staple meal for miners who needed a hearty meal that could be eaten warm or cold to keep them full as they commenced with back breaking manual labor of the mines. The fresh baked pastry was typically stuffed with ground hamburger or chopped sirloin steak, potatoes, turnips, onions, salt, pepper and occasionally additional spices. They are typically covered with brown gravy or ketchup and served with coleslaw and a pickle.

Today pasty’s are quite popular world wide and consist of fillings of just about anything you can imagine. They are eaten for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a snack.

Please join Wedgwood Manor for some Spontaneous Fun and taste the traditional pasty dinner.
